Opening Plenary: The World by 2050: Latin America and the Global Changes Ahead?

This plenary panel will explore and shed light on essential characteristics of Latin America in the context of a region experiencing rapid change in a period of fast-paced global transformation. Experts from CIEE college partner schools and host institutions will consider strengths, opportunities and vulnerabilities that permeate the region.

Co-panelists will provide brief individual presentations on their professional engagement in the region in such areas as public health, innovation and entrepreneurship, civic and political participation, inequality and development, sustainability and study abroad programming. A moderator will lead a group discussion centered on these vital areas while broaching touchstone elements of resilience, resource scarcity, knowledge creation and other components germane to understanding Latin America and its future direction.
