Biography
Juan Pablo Pardo-Guerra is a Professor of Sociology at the University of California, San Diego, and Director of the Latin American Studies Program and International Institute. He is author of Automating Finance: Engineers, Infrastructures, and the Making of Electronic Markets, and The Quantified Scholar: How Research Evaluations transformed the British Social Sciences. His most recent work delves into the politics of science in the US and Mexico as well as the changing structure of higher education in the United States. As Director of the Latin American Studies program, Juan Pablo is committed to building structures of mutual support for students and faculty as well as creating opportunities of international mobility. He is particularly devoted to creating bridges that present students with new experiences and ways of thinking about our world.
