Nicolas Soria Zurita

Dr. Nicolas F. Soria Zurita is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Engineering Design and Innovation at Penn State University. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University and a B.Sc. from Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador. Since joining Penn State in 2021, Dr. Soria Zurita has pioneered innovative study abroad programs that merge engineering design with cross-cultural learning.

His initiatives include transformative experiences in Chile, Spain, Australia, and Ecuador, all aimed at fostering sustainable design and global collaboration. By engaging students in real-world challenges and partnering with local communities, his work has significantly enhanced global competencies among engineering students and highlighted the critical role of international engagement in engineering education.
