Biography

Marcia Kwaramba is a Scholar in Residence and Hernando de Soto Fellow in the Business Ethics and Social Impact Division at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado Boulder. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a focus on marketing systems in subsistence marketplaces. Her research centers on the market behaviors of smallholder farmer entrepreneurs, with the goal of advancing inclusive and sustainable economic participation in developing regions. Her research contributes to a deeper theoretical understanding of entrepreneurship in subsistence marketplaces, with a particular emphasis on the role of business in fostering sustainable development and social impact.

Her initiatives include transformative, community-engaged learning experiences for sustainable business students in locations such as Cape Town, South Africa and Monteverde, Costa Rica. These programs engage students in real-world sustainability challenges and collaborative projects with local communities. Through these immersive experiences, she helps cultivate global competencies and a systems-thinking mindset among future business leaders
