Plenary: Professional & Cultural Exchange – Opportunities for Exchange Visitors to the US.
Administered by the Department of State, over 300,000 exchange visitors from 200 countries come to the U.S. on privately funded J-1 exchange programs, with the intent to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries by means of educational and cultural exchange. Created through the Fulbright-Hays Act, these programs are powerful in terms of reach and impact. This session will explore the value these programs offer to participants, U.S. hosts and communities, and the U.S. economy while meeting public diplomacy and foreign policy objectives. Given the current landscape, these programs are more important than ever before and our panelists will share their unique experience and perspective on the value these programs offer. The session will conclude with time for Q&A.
