Intercultural Learning Post-Pandemic

Intercultural development is the primary goal of all education abroad programs and program providers have honed their best practices over the years to encourage student intercultural growth. Is the pandemic a game-changer for what works and what does not? As students return from two years of learning in isolation, are they still able to engage with their own cohorts, let alone successfully navigate encounters with new cultures? And how does the more politically charged environment on U.S. campuses of recent years impact intercultural development abroad? With a starting point of scholarly research on pre-Covid student intercultural development, this panel will lead us in a timely discussion to explore together possible revisions of our best practices.
