Yonela Msongelwa

Yonela Msongelwa is a South African human rights activist, community organiser, and Pan-African advocate based in Cape Town. He serves as Project Development Officer at Africa Unite, where he works on human rights, social cohesion, youth empowerment, and community development initiatives. A co-cocreator of the Africa Day Now Campaign, which advocates for the recognition of Africa Day (25 May) as a national public holiday in South Africa. Yonela is a founding member of Qaphelani 43 NHW Impact NPC, where he has served in various leadership roles, contributing to community safety, youth development, and grassroots organising. He is also the Chairperson of the Free West Papua Solidarity Campaign Cape Town, a movement that advocates for the realisation of the right to self-determination.
