Biography

Wendy Osirus (Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, 1987) is a lawyer, social worker, and human rights advocate whose work focuses on improving the lives of Haitian communities in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. He began his activism early, founding the Movimiento por los Derechos Humanos, la Paz y la Justicia Global (MONDHA) at the age of 16. What started as a youth-led initiative has grown into a respected organization working on binational advocacy, civic education, and international solidarity.

Osirus’s work with MONDHA has earned international recognition, including the 2021 Diaspora Award from Fundación Zile and the 2025 Front Line Defenders Award in Dublin, Ireland. His efforts center on promoting dialogue and cooperation between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, especially in areas related to migration, social justice, and community development.

In addition to MONDHA, Osirus has helped establish and collaborate with several organizations, such as the Asociación de Médicos Mixta Internacional (AMMI), the Unión de Pastores Haitianos en la República Dominicana (UPHARD), and the Partido Popular Unión Haitiana (PPUH), which serves as a training space for emerging Haitian leaders.

He holds a law degree from the Universidad Abierta para Adultos (UAPA) from 2018, which complements his practical experience in advocacy and community organizing. Osirus also teaches Haitian history and is the author of Los Demonios de Haití a book that explores the country’s historical and political challenges.

Through his work, Wendy Osirus continues to support efforts that foster mutual respect and understanding between two nations with deep historical ties, contributing to peacebuilding and social equity in the region.
