Biography
Tina grew up between the mountains of Vermont and the coastline of Rhode Island and has spent her adult life between Tuscany and Rome. September 2024 marks forty years since Tina traveled to Rome at 17 for a post-graduate year at St Stephen’s School. She spent her sophomore year at the Università degli Studi Firenze and returned to Florence upon the early completion of her degree in Italian Studies and Comparative Literature. In her early career, Tina promoted Italy and Italian culture through her own company, working with world music record labels, fashion houses and other quintessentially Italian companies throughout the country.
Tina held the position of Director of all Arcadia University programs in Italy for nearly 15 years before accepting a role at the World Food Programme of the United Nations, where she worked on workplace culture and training programs for leaders. Her position there came after years of exposing students to the Rome-based Agencies of the UN either through engagement activities or internships.
Dedicated to international education of all kinds and at every level, Tina was a Trustee at St Stephen’s School in Rome – a community she stewarded through the pandemic as Co-Head of School and “Covid Manager.” Following a sabbatical to pursue her M.A. in Creative Non-Fiction at the University of East Anglia, Tina joins CIEE as the Director of the new CIEE Florence Center, where her vast knowledge of Italy in all its complexity comes to life. In her “free time”, Tina writes and enjoys nature either on skis, on foot or on a sailboat.
