Silvio Meira

Silvio Meira is founder and chief scientist at TDS.company, an extraordinary professor at CESAR.SCHOOL, distinguished research fellow at the Asia School of Business, Kuala Lumpur. Founder and chairman of the board at PORTO DIGITAL, member of the board at PORTO DIGITAL, MAGALU, CI&T, Silvio is the EMERITUS PROFESSOR of software engineering at the Center for Informatics, UFPE.

Silvio Meira is nationally recognized author, consultant and speaker on themes that encompass platform/digital businesses economics; policies, strategies and personal, social and economic impacts of ICTs; social networks; innovation and entrepreneurship.

Silvio Meira has [co-]authored more than 300 papers in learned journals and scientific conferences and is the author of several hundred texts about ICTs and their impact in the economy, society and people. He is also the author of O QUE É ESTRATÉGIA (2021) and MARKETING DO FUTURO (2024), published in Brazil. professor Meira has supervised more than 170 PhD e MSc theses and dissertations.

Silvio Meira has been granted the Brazilian national medals of SCIENCE [1999], FOREIGN SERVICE [2001], KNOWLEDGE [2008] ENGINEER OF THE YEAR [2023]. In 2007, he was elected one of the 100 most influent Brazilians by ÉPOCA magazine; in 2011, was chosen by OGLOBO newspaper as the Brazilian economic personality of the year and, in 2013, one of the 100 most influential people of the Brazilian web [by the GALILEU magazine].

Meira is an electronics engineer [ITA, BR ’77], MSc in computer science [UFPE, BR ’81] and PhD in computing [KENT, UK ’85]. He has retired as a full professor of software engineering at UFPE in 2014, was a founder and former chief scientist at CESAR and former fellow and faculty associate of the BERKMAN-KLEIN CENTER, Harvard U. Born in ’55 in TAPEROÁ, PB, he is married, father of two girls and a boy and grandfather of three pretty toddlers.
