Pablo Allen

Pablo Allen, PhD., was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica. He received a BSc. and MSc. in Biology from the University of Costa Rica and earned a PhD. in Entomology from the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL). He is an evolutionary ecologist interested in sexual selection, animal weapons, and phenotypic plasticity. Pablo rejoined CIEE as Academic Director five years ago, and since then he has continued to improve the delivery of courses through the implementation of more experiential approaches and learning-by-doing. As Center Director Pablo strives to push the CIEE Monteverde campus to improve as a ‘live’ laboratory, where learning about environmental sciences, with emphasis in sustainable development and climate change are at the core.
