Olena Kolupayeva

I am an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Communication and Media Studies Department at Stetson University, where I coordinate the Journalism Program and serve as a faculty adviser for student media. I earned my PhD in Linguistics from Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University in Ukraine and graduated from the Human Rights Academy for Journalism Professors. My research focuses on human rights, gender equality, and media literacy, with an emphasis on identifying and refuting misinformation related to the war in Ukraine. I teach courses in Digital Media, Fundamentals of Journalism, and Photojournalism, blending theory with practical experience. Through hands-on learning, I help students explore how digital platforms and community-driven media initiatives can drive social change on a global scale.
