Angela Thieman Dino

Dr. Angela Thieman Dino is a cultural anthropologist and Teaching Professor who directs the University of Colorado Boulder’s Engineering Leadership Program, equipping engineers and applied scientists to engage complex challenges and achieve ethical outcomes with courageous inquiry, ingenuity and integrity.   Over the years, Angela has led undergraduate experiential learning initiatives abroad in Argentina, the highlands of Peru, Rwanda and Uganda.   She serves on the Board of Directors of the Global Livingston Institute, a non-profit international education organization that takes learners on community-based learning experiences in East Africa. Her leadership and anthropological experiences have connected community development, youth, and education spheres, including roles as a Visiting Fellow in the Center for Energy and Environmental Security at CU Law School, preceptor for Watson Institute’s global social entrepreneurship program, and board member of regional, national and international human rights organizations. Angela is grateful to communities of refugees and survivors of torture and genocide, youth in post-war Bosnia-Herzegovina, and middle-school girls in Denver with whom she has conducted ethnographic fieldwork.
