Permission to Fail? Granted! Facilitating an Openness to Risk and Uncertainty as International Educators
In this lively, experiential, and interactive salon, we will practice getting more comfortable with uncertainty, facilitate discussion around ways to prepare and support students studying in new cultures and new systems to succeed and thrive through mistakes, gaffs, and other “failures”.
To do so, we will explore the expectations and definitions of failure and success in study abroad and international education, how and why these expectations and definitions may differ widely between students and between professionals in our field, and look at the gifts and opportunities in encountering uncertainty and failure in these cross-cultural experiences to build resilience and contribute to important personal and professional growth.
