Culture and Creative Expression as Drivers of Social Change

Culture and creative expression play a vital role in shaping identity, fostering dialogue, and driving social change. In this session, participants will explore how artists, cultural institutions, and creative communities in Cape Town and other contexts contribute to civic engagement, collective memory, and social cohesion. The session also examines how place‑based student learning in the visual arts, performance, music, film, and storytelling nurtures critical thinking, empathy, and ethical global engagement.
