Biography

Estefania Olaiz is a second-year currently pursuing a dual Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree in Biology and Political Science at MDC’s Honors College. She is passionate about the intersection between healthcare and public policy and recognizes the impact policy decisions can have on patient outcomes. She currently serves as the President of the Latino Medical Student Association, Director of Leadership and Service of Phi Theta Kappa, and President of the Student Government Association at MDC’s North Campus. She has previously participated in the IREX Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge (GSC), a virtual exchange program aimed at facilitating cultural exchange between scholars from the U.S. and Jordan. Additionally, she was selected to participate in the SDG Challenge, where she developed an ESG policy framework for sustainable infrastructure for the clean-energy company Carbon Biocapture. In the future, she hopes to enroll in medical school in hopes of becoming a doctor.
