Biography

Alan Masters is CIEE’s Academic Director for Curriculum Quality and Development. He has a PhD in Zoology and taught at University of Florida and Princeton University before becoming Director of CIEE’s Costa Rican study center in 1993, developed their Tropical Ecology & Conservation program, as well as proposing CIEE’s Sustainability and the Environment program in 2005. In 2019, he became CIEE’s Academic Director for STEM and guided the creation of over 50 STEM courses for CIEE’s Open Campus STEM & Society track. In 2020, Alan became CIEE’s Director Curriculum Quality and Development. In this role he continues to support sustainability courses in many locations. Additionally, he has developed/delivered several climate change and related courses for CIEE.
