Biography

Dr. Rishi Sugla is a climate resilience scientist at the University of Washington’s Climate Impacts Group, where he leads research and capacity building efforts that support frontline communities in adapting to climate change. Dr. Sugla is also Co-Director of the Northwest Climate Resilience Collaborative, a five year NOAA-funded Climate Adaptation Partnership program that supports regional climate resilience through community-academic partnerships. His work often lies at the intersection of climate adaptation science, climate justice, and storytelling. Dr. Sugla strongly believes in the power of local knowledge and community-led solutions to both address the impacts of climate change and transform systemic inequities that continue to harm many communities. Prior to joining the Climate Impacts Group, Rishi received his Ph.D. in Earth Science in 2021 from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
