Supporting Students From Marginalized Backgrounds Through Strengths-based Advising
When educators talk about students from marginalized backgrounds in study abroad, the focus is on additional resources, leading advisors to see these students, even unknowingly, as a burden. Using a strengths-based advising approach can help advisors avoid this deficit-based perspective and learn to recognize and utilize the students’ talents.
